Today we're discussing AI-generated content & the future of AI in marketing. Let's dig in  🍽

AI-generated content - an overview

OpenAI’s public release of tools such as Dall-E 2 and GPT-3 brought palpable use cases of AI to people on a wide scale. Recently, AI startups Stability AI and Jasper have both raised rounds of over $100m. This space is really hot right now ( but sometimes mega buzzwords can also be a bad sign ). I highly recommend that everyone plays around with both Dall-E 2 and GPT-3 to get an idea of the great power of these tools.

Obvious to most, AI-generated content is any content that is created by artificial intelligence. This can include everything from articles to videos to social media posts. There are a number of potential use cases for AI-generated content in the future, including helping businesses create targeted content for specific audiences, creating more realistic and lifelike virtual assistants, and automating the creation of content for various applications. The potential for AI tools to significantly augment human ideas and workflows on an everyday basis is more tangible than ever.

The future of AI in marketing:

1. Content will get better

In the near future, AI will help content creators in several ways. First, AI can help with the research necessary to write a piece. Second, AI can help identify patterns in data that can be used to create better, more targeted content. Finally, AI can help with the actual writing of the content, making it faster and easier to produce high-quality material.

AI will save copywriters a lot of time by automating repetitive tasks, such as research and data collection. This will allow copywriters to focus on more creative tasks, such as writing headlines and crafting compelling messages, but the way things are going AI will likely be able to do these things very well too.

2. Marketers will need to upskill

There has been a recent push towards using AI to help with the creation of content itself. The idea is that it will be able to produce content on its own, and then marketers can use the results as inspiration for their own work. This will mean that the process of creating content will become more automated and faster, which could be beneficial for everyone involved.

The question of marketers' upskilling is a difficult one to answer definitively as the role of marketing is constantly evolving and the capabilities of AI are still being explored and developed. However, it is possible that AI could eventually make some marketing tasks redundant, such as tasks that are repetitive or require a large amount of data analysis. Marketers need to upskill, but upskill in the right areas!

Growth Case Study: A Twitter thread

With over 1M impressions and 23,648 engagements, this thread, outlining “15 productivity hacks”, was written by AI. People are using AI to generate content that’s receiving wide recognition. Listicles, like this thread, that generate cookie-cutter content may be widespread for a while until people work out how to utilise these tools to greater effect, but from the start, I think it’s important to find the core use cases of AI that align with your business and begin to implement, or at least experiment with them.
